Carroll County is one of the west Tennessee Counties that were created following the Great Chickasaw Cession of 1818. Carroll was created on 7 November 1821 and named for Governor William Carroll. The records found in the volume are reports given to the County Commissioners each year by the guardians regarding their wards who were orphaned with an estate. Since there are various times that the reports are given, you need to study each of them as the names of their parent[s] are given in one or more of these filings. An accounting of the funds spent by the guardian in regard to the duty they have with each of the orphans was filed with the courts.
