The state of Kentucky became the fifteenth state admitted into the Union on 1 June 1792. The area now known as Boone County was at that time a part of Mason County. In 1795, Campbell County was formed from parts of Mason, Harrison, and Scott Counties, and in 1799, Boone County was formed from a part of Campbell County.
